Evidence for Action Challenge

Showcasing the Impact of the Use of Evidence and Data to Solve Societal Challenges

Aligned with the White House Year of Evidence for Action, FAS is inviting the broader science, technology, innovation, and research community to contribute ideas rooted in the production, use, and uptake of scientific evidence to improve policy outcomes across critical societal challenges including health, education and workforce, and climate and clean energy.

Since the enactment of the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018, leaders across the federal government have worked diligently to fulfill its legislatively mandated goals. While significant progress has been made in the development of agency-wide learning agendas and the introduction of chief data and evaluation officers in federal agencies, we see opportunities to drive further progress on the use of evidence in service of better outcomes for the American people.

To re-center our focus on impact, FAS’ Day One Project is launching an Evidence for Action Challenge that seeks to demonstrate how the strategic use of evidence can lead to better policy outcomes.

The Evidence for Action Challenge will begin in mid-April. Stay tuned for additional information on how to participate!

If you have any questions about this challenge — or about the Day One Project's ongoing work to advance evidence-based policy across the federal government — please contact Will Rieck at wrieck@fas.org.
